Mattel has launched via its Fisher Price brand this new Diecast Thomas the Tank Engine range called Take-N-Play Thomas, and it features many of the Thomas & Friends Characters from the Island of Sodor.

Take-N-Play Thomas Characters from the Misty Island Rescue and the forthcoming Day of the Diesels Movie will be launched throughout 2011

Take-N- Play Thomas has replaced Take Along, it is fully compatible with Take Along and looks exactly the same which is great news for collectors, mums and little engineers, as they can keep on collecting new engines that will work with existing play sets and engines.Take-N-Play Thomas is not compatible with Wooden Thomas, Trackmaster Thomas or Hornby Thomas.

Where is Sodor - The BBC looks into this

Always one to keep an eye out for any interesting Thomas & Friends stories, Peep Peep Thomas found the following story on the BBC website an interesting article.

Thomas the Tank Engine creator WV Awdry, born 100 years ago, set his railway engine stories in a sort of British Atlantis called Sodor. But where is it?

In Sodor they are celebrating, according to the latest book in the Railway Series of stories started by the Reverend Wilbert (WV) Awdry in 1945.

In the Railway Series Hard Back Books which comprises the first 27 Original titles and the New Collection, the engines - after the usual crop of mishaps - transport a bust of their creator to the main station of Sodor where the Fat Controller supervises its unveiling.

But how do you get to Sodor, home of Thomas the Tank Engine and the other locomotives, the Fat Controller and the Troublesome Trucks?

According to WV Awdry, who died in 1997, it's easy. The Jubilee Bridge at Barrow in Furness actually goes there, he and his brother George wrote in their 1987 book The Island of Sodor. However, ordinary maps say it goes only to Walney Island.

New Take-N-Play Thomas Characters

A new engine, Belle, arrives on Sodor and Thomas is chosen to show her around. Percy believes she will replace him as Thomas' best friend. The Diesels see this and bring Percy back to the Sodor Dieselworks, a run down Diesel equivalent of the Sodor Steamworks. Percy is then tricked by the Diesels to bring Thomas to the Dieselworks, where he's kept captive. Realising what he's done, Percy and the others try and set Thomas free, only to realise the Diesels just wanted the Dieselworks restored. At some point during the special, there will be a fire at a farm house (presumably started by the Diesels) that will trap Thomas. It will then be extinguished by Flynn and Belle.

'Arry and Bert, the Fat Controller, Bash and Dash, and the rest of the Steam Team are likely to appear. It's rumored that Splatter and Dodge will be appearing as well.



We will have in stock this summer the new characters from the 2011 Thomas film release "The Day of the Diesels", these new characters will include Belle (now in), Flynn, Dart(now in) and Den(now in)
